“Fake” V8 Engine And Transmission Sounds Will Be Heard In AMG EVs.

Emotions play a crucial role in the AMG experience, and this German brand aims to enhance them in its electric vehicles through a carefully designed simulation. The Mercedes-AMG Concept GT XX makes a powerful first impression, aiming to continue the legacy of its predecessors while ensuring its presence is felt and heard.
Strongly hinting at a production car that could appear in 2026, the concept delivers 1,360 hp, reaches a top speed of 359 km/h, and has four doors. That’s not all, because it also comes with “fake” sounds. After all, AMG wants to evoke emotions in the driver.
Mercedes-AMG has confirmed that the production car, possibly the next AMG GT 4-Door, will have speakers that will emit engine noise. Placing the speakers in the headlights seems a bit strange, but that’s what the engineers decided. Technology chief Markus Schäfer revealed some information. He said that evoking emotions is of great importance to AMG.
“The car needs to connect with your emotions; if it doesn’t, it’s not doing its job. That’s the essence of AMG cars, which we’ve integrated into the AMG GT XX. It must deliver authentic power and performance on the track while also providing an emotional experience through its sound and vibration. This is what you should expect from this car,” Schäfer said.
That’s why AMG’s first electric car can be expected to emit a simulated dramatic SUS engine sound, as well as a gearshift sound. That sounds pretty promising, and it’s not far from what Hyundai has already achieved with the well-received 5 N.
Electric vehicles are a significant part of the automotive industry and have great performance potential. Brands like AMG would be risking their future if they didn’t plan for their electric models, including their sound and driving experience.
