Tesla Model Y Drove Itself From Gigafactory To Its New Owner’s Home 30-min Away (Video)

Tesla autonomous Model Y midsize SUV drove itself from Gigafactory to its new owner’s home 30-min away in Austin.
The unsupervised delivery has no human driver was behind the wheel and no remote operator was involved.
The delivery utilized Tesla’s Full Self-Driving system, which relies on the vehicle’s suite of cameras, radar, and ultrasonics.
Tesla has successfully completed its first fully autonomous delivery of a Model Y from Gigafactory Texas in Austin to a customer’s home, in what it describe as the “world’s first autonomous delivery of a car”.
This milestone was announced by Tesla on its YouTube channel, with a video showcasing the over 30 minutes journey of the self-driving Model Y from the factory across parking lots, highways, and city streets.
“World’s first autonomous delivery of a car! This Tesla drove itself from Gigafactory Texas to its new owner’s home ~30min away — crossing parking lots, highways & the city to reach its new owner,” Tesla wrote in its caption.

The delivery was unsupervised, meaning no human driver was behind the wheel of the midsize SUV and no remote operator was involved, marking a significant step toward Tesla’s autonomous driving goals.
The delivery utilized Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) system, which relies on the vehicle’s suite of cameras, radar, and ultrasonics, processed by Tesla’s custom AI hardware.
This key milestone comes few months after Tesla announced in February that new vehicles now drive themselves from the Fremont factory to the designated loading dock lanes without any human intervention.
“Teslas now drive themselves from their birthplace at the factory to their designated loading dock lanes without human intervention. One step closer to large-scale unsupervised FSD,” Tesla wrote in its caption.
