How upcoming off-road-ready boxy BMW SUV may look Like amid report of plans to reveal Mercedes-Benz G-Class rival.
Citing company insiders, Automotive News says this off-road SUV is expected to replace the XM as BMW’s new flagship.
Before the report, Russian artist StrukovArt28 had earlier imagined a more aggressive looking BMW SUV.
He swapped the front fascia of the G-Class with the now famous and controversial large grille on the BMW X7.

A rendering by Russian artist StrukovArt28 has again surfaced online after it was reported that BMW is developing a head-to-head competitor to the iconic Mercedes-Benz G-Class — which recently celebrated its 600,000th production milestone.
According to a report from Automotive News, this purpose-built off-road SUV, codenamed “G74”, is expected to replace the underperforming XM Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) as BMW’s new flagship when it arrives in the market.

The G74 will be based on the BMW X5, which recently got the xOffroad package. It would probably have a gas engine, though BMW may offer XM Label’s HYBRID system, which consists of a V8 and an electric motor, and puts out a combined output of 748 hp and a combined torque of 1,000 Nm,
Company insiders claim production of G-Class rival could begin in the second half of 2029 at BMW’s Spartanburg plant in South Carolina in United States, according to reports from Automotive News.
While there isn’t any rendering yet, Russian artist StrukovArt28 had earlier imagined a more aggressive looking BMW SUV by swapping the front fascia of the G-Class with the now famous and controversial large grille on the flagship BMW X7.
Despite its aggressive exterior, featuring a boxy shape and an illuminated grille, many believed that the XM is no match to the off-road G-Class (G-Wagon) despite the $215,000 XM Label being the most powerful BMW of all time.
