Turkey’s Transport Minister issued a fine of $280 after sharing video of himself exceeding the maximum speed limit.

Uraloglu seen taking his Audi to 225 km per hour (140 mph) on a highway – which is nearly twice the legal limit.

While apologizing his ‘unintended’ actions, Uraloglu said he unintentionally exceeded the speed limit for a short period.

He urged motorists to adhere to speed limits, noting that the necessary penalty has been imposed by the Highway Gendarmerie.





Turkey’s transport minister, Abdulkadir Uraloglu, was slapped with a speeding ticket after posting a video of himself driving his Audi to 225 km per hour (140 mph) on a highway – which is nearly twice the legal limit.

In the video posted to his social media accounts, Uraloglu’s Audi car was seen zipping past others on the Ankara–Nigde Otoyolu motorway – with the car speedometer soaring to as high as 225 km in the clip.

Following the incident, Traffic police issued a fine of 9,267 lira ($280) to Uraloglu for exceeding the maximum speed limit of 140 kmh (87 mph) by around 50 km (30 miles) outside the capital Ankara.

While apologizing his ‘unintended’ actions, Uraloglu shared an image of the ticket on social media platform X, noting that he had reported himself to the authorities.

“I took the wheel to check the latest
status of the Ankara – Niğde Highway. During this time, I unintentionally exceeded the speed limit for a short period. With the related video, I have essentially reported myself.

“Adhering to speed limits is mandatory for everyone. The necessary penalty has been imposed by our Highway Gendarmerie. I would like to inform the public that I will be much more careful from now on,” the 59 year Turkish transport minister wrote.
