Chery SUV falls off while trying to replicate Range Rover Sport’s 2018 stunt on China’s ‘Stairway to Heaven’.

The Fulwin X3L test vehicle seen sliding down while climbing a steep 999 steps dubbed the ‘Stairway to Heaven’.

While the Chery SUV failed in its attempt, a Range Rover Sport SV managed to go through the same course in 9 minutes 51 seconds back in 2018.

Chery has apologized after its Fulwin X3L Crossover SUV falls off halfway, breaks through a railing on the Tianmen Mountain while trying to shoot a spectacular advertisement along the natural archway popularly known as the “Heaven’s Gate Mountain”.

The incident, captured in videos by multiple netizens, shows a Chery Fulwin X3L test vehicle sliding down while climbing a steep 999 steps dubbed the ‘Stairway to Heaven’ before breaking through a section of the protective railing.

Chery, in an apology statement, stated that a preliminary investigation revealed the accident was caused by the “unexpected detachment of a shackle from the safety rope’s anchor point of the test device.”

Per CarNewsChina, Chery expressed deep regret for the damage caused to the Tianmen Mountain site, pledging to repair it and bear all compensation responsibilities fully.

The unexpected incident occurred on November 12th during a Chery event, about three months after the Chery Fulwin X3L, a rebaged iCar 03 series, officially entered the Chinese market.

While the Chery Fulwin X3L failed in its attempt, a Range Rover Sport SV managed to go through the same course in 9 minutes 51 seconds back in 2018. A year later, a VW ID R Electric Car shaved off over 2 minutes, completing the course in 7 minutes and 38 seconds.
