7:32 Minutes: All-New Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 Sets Nürburgring Record As Fastest In Its Class

The all-new Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4MATIC+ sporty sedan has crowned itself the fastest car in its segment around the legendary 20.832-kilometre Nürburgring Nordschleife, crossing the finish line with a notarized time of 7:32.070 minutes.
Behind the wheel was Mercedes-AMG development driver Kevin Berger, who completed the record lap in the optional “RACE” driving mode. The setting allows the rear active spoiler to automatically optimize the car’s aerodynamic balance.

The CLA 45 is powered by three electric motors—two on the rear axle and one on the front axle—which collectively produce 680 hp, enabling the four-seater to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 2.7 seconds.

First introduced in the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé, this particularly powerful powertrain helped propel the CLA 45 4MATIC+ to a new segment record on what is widely regarded as one of the world’s most demanding race tracks.
For the record attempt, the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4MATIC+ was fitted with Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS tyres and benefited from its steel-sprung AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension featuring adaptive three-way damping.

“It is the fastest vehicle in its class on the world’s most demanding racetrack. I am certain: it will not be the last AMG record on the Nordschleife,” said Stefan Weckbach, CEO of Mercedes-AMG and Head of Mercedes-Benz G-Class & Mercedes-Maybach.
The CLA 45 4MATIC+’s axial-flux motors are powered by a lithium-ion battery with a usable energy capacity of 94 kWh, enabling a range of more than 670 kilometers in the sedan and 640 kilometers in the Shooting Brake.
