All-New Acura NEXERA Vision With Butterfly Doors Previews Next-Generation RDX Hybrid Design

Acura NEXERA Vision made its global debut on August 14 at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, showcasing new design elements that are set to debut first on the fourth-generation RDX Hybrid arriving in the coming years.
Finished in Matte Titanium, the Acura NEXERA Vision features an aero-channel fascia and an active rear spoiler designed to enhance high-speed stability and braking performance, while its dual-hinge butterfly doors allow for a bold and dramatic entry.

“We are using the 40th anniversary of Acura as a springboard to our future, with the Acura NEXERA Vision serving as the design language for future Acura models,” said Yasutake Tsuchida, Acura Creative Director and Vice President of Auto Design.
One of the NEXERA Vision’s key design elements, “phantom lighting,” will debut first on the next-generation Acura RDX Hybrid. Inspired by the brand’s “A” emblem, the ultra-thin headlights and taillights are hidden within the coupé’s bodywork and dramatically revealed when illuminated.

“To reinforce the new Acura styling identity, we developed a unique lighting signature inspired by the Acura ‘A’ mark—an unmistakable design element created to make this new era of Acura instantly recognizable,” Tsuchida said.
Inside, the driver-focused cabin features front seats affixed to the floor, while the pedals and steering wheel can be adjusted to suit the driver. The black-and-white interior combines premium Alcantara materials and forged carbon with gloss-black finishes and high-contrast pink accents.

While the concept was able to move under its own power during an indoor preview, Honda’s luxury brand did not disclose the Acura NEXERA Vision’s powertrain or performance figures.
“Our goal with this new design direction is to define Acura performance through disciplined proportions, sculpted form and the seamless integration of advanced technology, creating an expression that is both progressive and authentic to the brand,” Tsuchida added.
