Is There Really A Need To Change Transmission Fluid Of Your Car?

Often time, you may hear people debate on whether or not to change the transmission fluid of their car. Some say there is no need to change it whereas some feel there is need to change it over time. Which of them is right?
Before you’re done reading this post, you’ll find out the correct answer.
There are lots of fluids when it comes to cars; they are all important. One of the most important of them all is the transmission fluid.
Whether or not to change it is not debatable; it should be changed with time. The change interval depends on your manufacturer.
The manufacturer’s maintenance schedule for many automatic transmissions doesn’t call for fresh fluid until 100,000 miles; 150,000 for some others.
This transmission fluid can’t be at its best at all times, it deteriorate over time.
The way you drive and what you use your car for is a determining factor of how often you should change your transmission fluid. Hard use — such as frequent stop-and-go city driving, hauling heavy loads, trailer towing — will hasten the deterioration. Reasons being that this type of driving raises the transmission fluid temperature.
Transmission fluid often is red in colour but can come in other colors. As it deteriorates it tends to turn darker. Another indication of the need to be changes is the odour. If it has burned odour, it could indicate there is need for change. If there is debris or particles in the fluid, it is another indication that the fluid needs changing.
