Just 1,970 examples will be made to celebrate the year the first Range Rover was introduced.

The Range Rover is fifty years today and to mark its half-century as the company’s flagship product, Land Rover is launching a new limited edition model.

Called Range Rover Fifty, 1,970 examples will be made to celebrate the year the first Range Rover was introduced.

The “Fifty” will be based on the Autobiography version of the range-topping 4×4. It will be offered in both standard and long-wheelbase (extended-wheelbase) versions.

But the SUV will have several design tweaks to pay homage to 50 years of the iconic model.

The Fifty will come with special exterior features such as a new black shade called Auric Atlas. Lucky buyers will also be able to choose from two unique 22-inch wheel designs as well as a choice of powertrain.

Most of the Fifty examples will be offered in four colours such as Carpathian Grey; Rosello Red; Aruba (a silver shade); and Santorini Black.

Customers will also be able to choose from three hues that were all available on the original Range Rover in 1970: Tuscan Blue, Bahama Gold and Davos White.

Prices will be announced later.
