Nigeria’s Azman Air Takes Delivery Of Its First Airbus A340 (Photos)
Nigeria’s domestic airline operator Azman Air has taken delivery of its first Airbus A340-600 aircraft.
The former Virgin Atlantic Airbus A340 aircraft was delivered to Azman Air on Wednesday after being repainted and refitted in Bournemouth.
The airline had earlier announced the acquisition of the new aircraft on its official website three weeks ago.
“We are proud to announce the acquisition of Airbus A340-600. The latest addition to our fleet will be the 6th Aircraft operated on the platform of Azman Air”.
The aircraft’s economy cabin will seats 411 passengers in a 2-4-2 configuration, while the business class cabin, in the middle of the aircraft, has two ( brown) seats.
The aircraft is the first widebody jet in the African carrier’s fleet. With the arrival of the new plane, Azman will spread its wing on the international routes. These includes charter flights for Hajj and Umrah travelers.

The aircraft, with registration 2-EALJ, was bought from British carrier through aircraft sales and leasing company, European Aviation.
This particular aircraft is 14 years old and previously had the registration G-VYOU, flying with Virgin Atlantic. Airbus delivered the aircraft to Virgin Atlantic in August 2006. Powering the jet are four Rolls-Royce Trent 556-61 engines.

Lagos, Abuja, Asaba, Benin City, Birmin Kebbi, Gombe, Kaduna Int’l, Kano, Maiduguri, Owerri, and Port Harcourt Omagwa.
