The representatives from ASCN are Alhaji Abdulraheem Agunbiade (President) and Mr Jibola Alaga (Secretary).
Automobile Sports Club of Nigeria is a Non-Governmental Organization which promotes motorsports in Nigeria under the international umbrella organisation called FIA (Federation Internationale de l’Automobile) which mean International Federation of Automobiles in english.
The meeting was scheduled to discuss the progress and way forward in respect of Motorsports in Nigeria.. and it commenced with Alhaji Agunbiade updating Dr. Cosmas Maduka accordingly. Worthy of note is the fact that Dr. Cosmas Maduka is also the Patron of Automobile Sports Club of Nigeria.
Dr. Cosmas Maduka was happy to hear that we now have Nigerians who have the expertise to draw standard road maps for racing events; plan street racing which would meet world-class standard. He recalled that several years back, he and his team had to engage the services of expatriates which cost a lot of money.
He also narrated his stint with and flare for Motorsports in Nigeria which dates back to 2002 when he organised and took part in Argungu Motor Rally. “It was a memorable moment driving Cross-Country from the mountains to the vast expanse of land in the North” The Patron said.
After discussing past and future car racing events amongst many others, it was agreed that the current economic situation has had a negative effect on this capital intensive sport which started to regain momentum recently.
Finally, Dr. Cosmas confirmed that Coscharis Group will revisit the sponsorship of Motorsports in Nigeria as soon as the economy recovers.
