Does The Audi A7 Sportback Have A Place?
German automakers used to offer a wide range of variants across their models. However, in recent years, the focus has shifted to efficiency and cost savings. This means companies are reducing their offerings and discontinuing vehicles, leaving little room for niche models.
Audi previously announced that the A6 would become the A7 but quickly backed down. The new Audi A6 is now set to debut this summer, which could spell bad news for the A7 nameplate.
Motor1 reports that Audi has suggested that there will be no new A7 Sportback at all.
That would make sense, considering the current A7 Sportback shares its platform with the outgoing A6. The Chinese A7L sedan will likely be discontinued as well.
The second-generation A7 Sportback debuted in early 2018, followed by a facelift in mid-2023.
The A7 offers a range of options, including the high-performance RS7 Performance model with 630 hp from a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine.
