Due To A Battery Issue, Volkswagen Is Recalling Around 100,000 EVs

The recall concerns approximately 75,000 cars from Volkswagen’s ID series and nearly 20,000 Cupra Born models produced between February 2022 and August 2024. About 28,000 electric VWs are being recalled in Germany and, therefore, 4,000 in the Netherlands.
Apart from the ID.3, from which the Cupra Born is derived, it concerns the ID.4, ID.5, and the ID.Buzz that were produced during the period in question.
In exceptional cases, there is a risk that the so-called high-voltage battery becomes too hot. In “extreme cases,” that overheating can lead to a vehicle fire.
“In a few cars from a specific production period, battery modules may have been installed that do not fully meet our technical specifications.” A yellow warning light may illuminate, and the range may noticeably decrease,” said the Pon spokesperson. According to him, there are no known cases yet where people have been injured.
“To rule out potential risks, we are checking all affected cars as a precaution,” said the spokesman. According to him, customers have already been contacted about this. “We are performing a software update and analyzing the individual modules of the high-voltage battery. If a suspicious module is identified, it will be replaced.”
