The Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line operated by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has provided two (2) million passengers with a safe and speedy ride since full passenger operations began on 4th September 2023.

The Managing Director of LAMATA, Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo, made this known in a statement while reflecting on the significant impact that the electrified Lagos Blue Line has had on Lagos and its residents in the last one year.





“Over the past year, the Blue Line has served an impressive two million passengers without significant disruptions. As we look ahead, LAMATA remains dedicated to expanding our rail network and improving the overall transportation experience in Lagos.” Akinajo added.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has warned all auto dealers in Lagos against the unauthorized display of vehicles for sale on road setbacks, walkways, and other prohibited areas.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, gave the warn during a courtesy visit by the Lagos Motor Dealers Association to the LASTMA headquarters in Oshodi on Wednesday September 4th.

During the visit, Mr. Bakare-Oki said that the illegal placement of vehicles on roadsides, setbacks, streets, and walkways poses a significant risk to public safety, obstructs pedestrian movement, and exacerbates traffic congestion.

The LASTMA boss urged Auto dealers to strictly adhere to the guidelines for vehicle display to avoid sanctions, which may include fines and the impoundment of such vehicles.

The Lagos government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI) and China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) to construct the Green Line rail in Lagos State.

The Green Line is a 68km rail line designed to run from the Lekki Free Zone to Marina, connecting with the Blue Line at Marina. Projected to carry over a million passengers daily at launch, the proposed Green Line will link key areas like Victoria Island (VI), Lekki, Ajah and more.

The signing of agreements comes a day after the Lagos Blue Line clocked one year of passenger operations – serving an impressive two million passengers without significant disruptions since commencement of operations on September 4th 2023.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has returned $180,300 and 53 vehicles to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). The assets were recovered for Canadian victims of Nigerian Fraudsters.

The recovered assets was handed over to the representatives of RCMP in Abuja on Friday, September 6th 2024 by the Chairman of the anti-graft agency, Ola Olukoyede.

Speaking on the stolen vehicles, he said the recovered 53 vehicles were stolen over a period of time in Canada, freighted to Nigeria and distributed to multiple locations in Nigeria by the criminal elements.
