FG, through the NADDC, unveils National Occupational Standards (NOS) and CNG Retrofitting Guide for Automotive Sector.
NADDC emphasized that NOS/ CNG Retrofitting Guide would ensure standardized practices across Nigeria’s automotive ecosystem.
It also noted that it will support Pi-CNG — which is a game-changing policy aimed at reducing reliance on petrol and diesel.

The Federal Government, through the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), has launched the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for auto gas-powered vehicles, electric vehicle (EV) maintenance, and the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Retrofitting Information Guide.
Officially unveiled on Thursday, July 24th 2025 at Transcorp Hilton Abuja, the move underscores Nigeria’s renewed commitment to clean energy, workforce development and sustainable mobility.
Speaking at the event, Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Senator John Owan Enoh, highlighted the automotive industry’s potential to drive economic growth, create jobs, and boost Nigeria’s global competitiveness.

“By investing in standardized technical training and skill-building through these NOS, we are equipping our youth to thrive in the evolving global automotive space,” he stated.
Also speaking, the Director-General of NADDC, Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, emphasized that the NOS and CNG Retrofitting Guide would ensure safe, efficient, and standardized practices across Nigeria’s automotive ecosystem.
He also noted that it support the Federal Government’s Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (Pi-CNG) — which he said is a game-changing policy aimed at reducing reliance on petrol and diesel.

Engr. Michael Oluwagbemi, CEO of PCNGi, praised NADDC’s leadership, noting that establishing strong occupational standards is key to building the human capacity required for Nigeria’s energy transition and automotive innovation.
The event also featured the inauguration of the new Sector Skills Council (SSC) Executives, tasked with advancing Technical and Vocational Education (TVET) and fostering industry-academic collaboration.
The successful unveiling of the NOS and CNG Retrofitting Guide marks another milestone achievement in the local auto industry as the NADDC seized the opportunity to reaffirm its commitment to local EV manufacturing, alternative fuel adoption, and green mobility.
