Each of the recently retired Service Chiefs to get bulletproof SUV, Peugeot 508, 3 Service Drivers,Punch News reports.

They are also to get escorts, to be provided by the appropriate military units/formations plus free medical cover in Nigeria and abroad.

They are also entitled to an Aide-de-Camp/Security Officer, Special Assistant of a Lieutenant/Captain or equivalent.

The immediate past Chief of Defense Staff and Service Chiefs, who were retired by President Bola Tinubu on June 19th 2023, are set to received bulletproof SUV each as well other perks of office as retirement benefits, Saturday PUNCH has gathered.

The recently retired senior military officers are General Lucky Irabor (Chief of Defence Staff), Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya (Chief of Army Staff), Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo (Chief of Naval Staff) and Air Marshal Isiaka Amao (Chief of Air Staff).

Section 11.8 of the Harmonised Terms and Conditions of Service for Officers of the Armed Forces of Nigeria 2017, obtained exclusively by Saturday PUNCH and marked as “Restricted”, listed the benefits of a retiring CDS and service chiefs to include :

One bulletproof SUV or equivalent vehicle to be maintained by the service and to be replaced every four years as well Peugeot 508 or equivalent backup vehicle.

• Three service drivers, one service orderly, five domestic aides made up of two service cooks, two stewards and a civilian gardener.

• Aide-de-Camp/Security Officer, Special Assistant of a Lieutenant/Captain or equivalent, or personal assistant of the rank of warrant officer or equivalent, and nine standard guards of nine soldiers.





• Escorts are to be provided by the appropriate military units/formations as the need arises plus free medical cover in Nigeria and abroad.

• They are also to retain all military uniforms and accoutrements to be worn for appropriate ceremonies, as well as personal firearms, the latter to be retrieved by the relevant services upon the death of the beneficiaries.
