Frank Darko, a young engineer in Ghana, has come up with a cost effective “Road Sweeping Machine” that he calls a “Sweeping Bicycle“.
According to the inventor, this bicycle-mounted sweeper is a trusted design that will in the nearest future put streets in Ghana among the cleanest in the world.
Darko’s specialized road cleaning equipment consists of broomsticks attached to a three-tyre trolley (or let’s say cart). This setup is firmly attached to the back of the bicycle.
As the bicycle travels along the street, the sweepers not only sweeps the road, but also captures plastics and everything that gets in its way.
Unlike conventional and polluting road sweepers used in developed nations, this ecofriendly sweeper is also cost effective.
This is because the broomsticks are the only components that needs to be replaced.
