Below are answers to 12 Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) about the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

1. What is CNG?

CNG is compressed natural gas, primarily composed of methane and ethane, derived from natural gas production.

3. Why switch to CNG?

CNG is cheaper, safer, and more reliable, costing 40-50% less than petrol and significantly less than diesel.

4. Is CNG Safe?

CNG is safer than LPG or petrol as it dissipates quickly and is lighter than air, reducing fire risk in contained environments.

5. Will the government regulate CNG prices?

The government regulates natural gas prices, not CNG prices directly.

CNG costs between N200-N300 per KG in Nigeria, while petrol prices cost between N950-N1,019 as at September 2024.

converted to run on CNG in addition to petrol in hybrid systems.

8. What is the unit of CNG sold to customers, and how far can you travel on a full thank compared to petrol?

Small vehicles typically have 65 liter tanks, requiring 10-12kg of CNG to fill. A petrol tank for a five passenger car can last 400-500km costing N18,000-N30,000, while CNG costs N6,000-N10,000 for the same distance.

9. How long does engine conversion take?

A standard workshop can convert 2-3 vehicles a day.

The standard cylinder size is 55-65 liters, with 65 liters recommended for most vehicles, except for very small vehicles where 55 liters would suffice.

12. Can I buy the kit and convert the vehicle myself?
