Honda Intends To Give The 2027 Passport A “More Masculine” Appearance

Just two years after the current version went on sale, Honda is preparing a revised Passport for late 2026. According to insider sources, the rugged TrailSport variant has undergone minor design changes and, more significantly, a suspension boost that has obviously resonated with consumers.

Even though the majority of Americans will never see anything rougher than a gravel driveway, TrailSport accounted for around 80% of the 55,231 Passports sold in 2025, demonstrating that Americans still want their SUVs to look prepared for a fire road. Although the number set a record for the model, it only placed the Passport fifth in the midsize category, indicating potential for improvement. Honda is able to increase Passport output by 13 percent thanks to the Ridgeline production standstill through 2028.

All-terrain tyres, front and rear bash plates, and recovery points are already included in the premium Passport model. It lacks additional air beneath it, though. The TrailSport has the same 8.3 inches (211 mm) of ground clearance as all previous Passports, even with its off-road-tuned suspension. It will soon change.

An insider claims Honda intends to give the 2027 Passport “more testosterone”, making it “a touch more manly”. Autonews reports that the plant will add a 1-inch (2.5 cm) elevation.

The SEMA show car from the previous year appears to have been a sneak peek at the nameplate’s future. A 2.4-inch raise, a full-size spare tyre carrier, a roof rack, extra LEDs, a custom bumper, a Thermal Orange wrap, distinctive upholstery and a Garmin navigation device were added to the Passport TrailSport HRC concept. According to those familiar with Honda’s plans, in addition to the lift,

Honda is anticipated to make “subtle adjustments” to the SUV’s front and back ends, giving it a more “aggressive stance”. The midsize SUV may be able to more effectively compete with serious off-roaders like the ladder-frame Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro thanks to those modifications.

However, don’t search for anything fresh behind the hood. According to reports, the lineup retains the naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 engine from the previous model, which produces 285 horsepower and 262 lb-ft. A ten-speed automatic transmits drive to all four wheels.

Although a hybrid V6 powerplant that promises 10% more acceleration and 30% more efficiency is being developed, it probably won’t be available until near the end of the decade.
