Hyundai’s 6-wheeled Unmanned Firefighting Robots Joins Korea’s Fire Service To Safeguard Firefighters
Hyundai Motor Group donates Unmanned Firefighting Robots to Korea National Fire Agency to safeguard firefighters.
Developed in collaboration with the South Korea’s National Fire Agency, the Unmanned Firefighting Robot is based on Hyundai Rotem’s HR-Sherpa.
Its key features for remote fire suppression includes a water cannon, self-spraying system, vision-enhancing camera, and remote-control operation.
All-terrain robot is equipped with special high-temperature-resistant tyres and a six-wheel independent drive in-wheel motor system.

As part of efforts to protect the public and firefighters, the Hyundai Motor Group has donated four (4) Unmanned Firefighting Robots to South Korea’s National Fire Agency (NFA), which are designed for high-risk environments that are inaccessible to firefighters.
Developed in collaboration with the South Korea’s National Fire Agency, the Unmanned Firefighting Robot is based on Hyundai Rotem’s HR-Sherpa, an electrified, multi-purpose unmanned vehicle, that is equipped with remote‑driving capabilities.

The Group said the Unmanned Firefighting Robot was developed in response to Korea National Fire Agency’s data, which revealed that 1,802 firefighters have been injured or killed in the line of duty over the past decade.
“The Unmanned Firefighting Robots that we are donating embody Hyundai Motor Group’s core technologies and represent a new form of mobility built on our shared goal of ‘technology that saves lives.’” Euisun Chung, Executive Chair, Hyundai Motor Group, said at the presentation ceremony.
“Hyundai Motor Group will continue to provide the technologies and support needed to ensure that firefighters can carry out their missions in a safer environment,” he added.

The Unmanned Firefighting Robots are equipped with key features for remote fire suppression, including a water cannon, self-spraying system, vision-enhancing camera, and remote-control operation.
To allow for smooth operation on difficult terrain amongst fire debris and obstacles, the all-terrain robot is equipped with special high-temperature-resistant tyres and a six-wheel independent drive in-wheel motor system.
