2026 World Car Awards : BMW iX3 SUV Named “World Car Of The Year”, “World Electric Vehicle”

BMW iX3 SUV named “World Car Of The Year” and “World Electric Vehicle” at 2026 World Car Awards (WCA).
This year’s World Car of the Year win is BMW’s second, following BMW 3-Series’ victory in 2006.
In total, the German brand has won eleven titles in World Car’s 22-year history.
Winners in other categories includes LUCID Gravity (World Luxury Car) and HYUNDAI IONIQ 6 N (World Performance Car).
Firefly won World Urban Car while MAZDA 6e / EZ-6 won World Car Design Of The Year.
The BMW iX3 has won the overall “World Car of the Year” title at this year’s 2026 World Car Awards (WCA) held at the New York International Auto Show, edging out the Hyundai Palisade and Nissan Leaf.
The international jury of 98 motoring journalists from 33 countries not only awarded the BMW iX3 the prestigious award but also named the brand’s first Neue Klasse model the 2026 “World Electric Vehicle”.
“We are delighted by this outstanding result for the BMW iX3, the first production model of the Neue Klasse,” said Mike Reichelt, Head of Neue Klasse.
“The iX3 marks the beginning of a new era for BMW in terms of design language, range and charging performance, driver assistance systems, and the user experience with the first-ever BMW Panoramic iDrive,” he added.
This year’s World Car of the Year win is BMW’s second as the BMW 3-Series has previously won the 2006 World Car of the Year title. In total, the German brand has won eleven titles in World Car’s 22-year history.
