Infiniti Intorduces The QX80 Track Spec And Terrain Spec Concept SUVs
Following the recent introduction of the production QX80 Sport to the US market, Infiniti is now exploring further possibilities with the new QX80 Track Spec and Terrain Spec concepts.
Both are said to be designed for “maximum living—without sacrificing style, comfort, or luxury.”
The QX80 Track Spec Concept heralds a potential rival to the Cadillac Escalade-V, featuring a 3.5-litre V6 engine equipped with new turbochargers and a revised exhaust system. Thanks to these changes, it now boasts 485 kW/659 hp and 1,016 Nm of torque. That’s a big jump over the standard model, which has 336 kW/456 hp and 699 Nm.
Infiniti noted that the concept is their most powerful vehicle to date and stated that the improvements were “achieved using factory internal components.”
The concept vehicle also has a modified appearance, thanks to an aggressive aero body package that includes a front splitter, side skirts, and pronounced fender flares. These are joined by unique intakes, revised fender vents, and a grille taken from the QX80 Sport version. There is also a quad exhaust system, sports diffuser, 24-inch wheels, and a Brembo braking system.
Next is the Infiniti QX80 Terrain Spec Concept, which has the Lexus LX 700h Overtrail in its sights and has been transformed into a luxury SUV.
Infiniti hasn’t released many details, but the concept features front and rear skid plates, as well as increased ground clearance. There are also flared fenders, new wheels shod in all-terrain tires, and a roof platform with a light bar and pop-up tent.
Infiniti Americas Vice President Tiago Castro points out, “The QX80 Track Spec and Terrain Spec reflect two different customer mindsets—those who crave exciting on-road performance and those who seek opportunities far off-road. These concepts embody Infiniti’s new mindset, one that allows us to explore what suits customers best while accelerating our foray into the premium SUV space.
