Italian Police's New Lamborghini Urus To Be Used To Transport Kidneys For Urgent Operations - autojosh

For the 6th time in 20 years, Lamborghini delivers a Urus Performante Super SUV to Italian Highway Police.

Unique Urus Performante Super SUV, designed for organ transport and special services, will enter service in 2024.

It is the sixth and latest model to enter into the Highway Police Fleet, joining the Lamborghini Huracán LP610-4 sports car.





Automobili Lamborghini on Tuesday December 12th delivered a 666-horsepower Urus Performante to the Italian State Police, extending a successful 20-year collaboration which started in 2004.

Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Lamborghini, handed over the keys to Super SUV to the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, in the presence of Head of Police, Vittorio Pisani.

When it enters into service in 2024, the Urus Performante will be used for special services, including the urgent medical transport of organs like kidney. It is the sixth and latest model to enter into the Highway Police Fleet, joining the Huracán LP610-4.

“It is with great pleasure that we are continuing our twenty-year co-operation with the Italian State Police,” commented Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini.





“Knowing that our cars are used for public duties and, above all, for crucial operations to save human lives, can only make me and the whole company proud. These initiatives, which bring us great satisfaction, demonstrate our innate close ties with Italy.”

On the outside, the Urus Performante has the classic blue color of the Italian State Police and white, plus a light bar with 360° blue LED lights affixed on the roof, together with a two-tone electric siren.

Inside, it packs an armored weapon box, plus life-saving features like a defibrillator for first aid response, as well as a portable fridge for the transportation of organs.

Like the base Urus Performante, it is equipped with a 666-horsepower twin-turbo V8 engine, which allows a 0 to 100 km/h (0-60 mph) acceleration in just 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 306 km/h (190 mph).
