Toyota USA on Tuesday June 13th took to its various social media platforms to announce the return of the high-riding Toyota Land Cruiser to North America.
A brief teaser video announcing the return of the iconic nameplate shows off various Toyota Land Cruiser badges throughout the years.
On its Facebook page, the brand said “Did you really think we’d be gone for long? The legend returns,” while “Nothing better than a comeback story. The Legend Returns.” was used to caption the teaser posted on Instagram.
While Toyota didn’t provide details of the variant of the SUV coming to the US, a report from Automotive News indicate that the Americans will likely get the smaller Land Cruiser Prado instead of the LC 300 Series.
The 5th-generation Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, which is mechanically identical to the recently revealed Lexus GX and will likely arrived before the end of year, will be based on Toyota’s TNGA-F body-on-frame platform.
It is expect to use the same 3.4-liter twin-turbocharged V6 on the latest Lexus GX 550, which makes 349 horsepower, 479 lb-ft of torque, and paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
