JLR Restarts Manufacturing Operations 5 Weeks After Cyber Attack Forced A Shutdown
JLR on Wednesday began phased restart of manufacturing operations, five weeks after cyber attack.
Manufacturing processes resumed at EPMC, where it builds engines and its Battery Assembly Centre (BAC).
JLR also announced a new financing scheme that will provide qualifying JLR suppliers with cash‑up‑front.

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) on Wednesday began phased restart of manufacturing operations at its factory in Wolverhampton, following a pause of operations on 1 September after being targeted by hackers.
The restart of manufacturing processes resumed today at its Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre (EPMC), where Britain’s biggest car maker builds engines and its Battery Assembly Centre (BAC).
The British firm also announced that workers will also begin to return on Wednesday ahead of restart of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport (MLA) production lines in the Solihull facility this week.
“This week marks an important moment for JLR and all our stakeholders as we now restart our manufacturing operations following the cyber incident, said Adrian Mardell, Chief Executive Officer of JLR.
“From tomorrow (today), we will welcome back our colleagues at our engine production plant in Wolverhampton, shortly followed by our colleagues making our world‑class cars at Nitra and Solihull.”
In addition, JLR also announced a new financing scheme that will provide qualifying JLR suppliers with cash‑up‑front during the production restart phase, with plans to extended the scheme to some non‑production suppliers.
“Our suppliers are central to our success, and today we are launching a new financing arrangement that will enable us to pay our suppliers early, using the strength of our balance sheet to support their cashflows,” Mardell added.
“I would like to thank everyone connected to JLR for their commitment, hard work and endeavour in recent weeks to bring us to this moment. We know there is much more to do but our recovery is firmly underway.”
