Koenigsegg Is Working On New Projects After Selling Out Of All Of Its Cars

Koenigsegg is in a position that every car manufacturer and company’s first man would like to be in. Every model that Christian von Koenigsegg has produced or intends to produce already has its owner.
As is known, Koenigsegg deals exclusively with limited-series cars. The Jesko was limited to 125 examples (a combination of the high-downforce Jesko Attack model and the more aerodynamic Jesko Absolut model was determined by customer preference), while the retro-styled CC850 was limited to just 70 examples (there were originally 50, but high demand resulted in a production increase of 20 more cars).
The four-seat Gemera model, which develops more than 2,300 hp, is limited to 300 cars, while the new Saidar’s Spear is slated for just 30 customers. All copies are already sold out.
“All our models are currently sold out; we have nothing left to sell. On the one hand, it’s good, and on the other, it’s frustrating because it’s fun to communicate with enthusiasts and make their dreams come true. We’ll present something new in a year or a year and a half, after which we’ll open the order book again. We have several limited production projects, which means that they all have to be different and have to have meaning,” Christian von Koenigsegg told Top Gear.
Among those projects is the successor to the Jesko model, and even faster and more focused models based on Gemera’s hybrid platform are expected. However, there is no fully electric hypercar in sight for now.
Koenigsegg pointed out that “the appetite for fully electric cars is extremely low.”
“I have experience with electric cars, and I like their response and the ease of living with them. However, after a certain time, you want to feel something, to talk to the beast; you want a dialogue. You want pulsing, pumping, heat, sounds, gear changes, and all the aspects that make the car come alive. I would say that an electric car is more of a robot. We introduce electric drive here and there, and maybe one day there will be some of that. For now, we are satisfied like this,” Koenigsegg concluded.
