In a move to tackle high levels of road traffic crashes occasioned by human error, the Lagos State Drivers’ Institute (LASDRI) has announced the introduction of Computer-Based Test (CBT) into their drivers’ recertification exercise.

General Manager of LASDRI, Mrs Tiamiyu Afusat, who stated this while featuring on a Radio Lagos Magazine Programme “Awaye” on Wednesday, explained that the initiative will ensure conformity with globally acceptable standards on driver training.

Tiamiyu said the introduction of CBT is also to complement existing efforts of the institute towards enhancing the standardisation of the driving profession which is expected to translate into producing a better crop of drivers with a great deal of knowledge of safe road use.

She emphasised that in consonance with the THEMES Plus Development Agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration, the Institute will continue to implement policies that will lead to reducing crashes on Lagos roads to the minimum.

LASDRI boss noted that if the crop of drivers plying on the Nigerian roads are properly trained, then more than 70 per cent of fatalities on the road could have been mitigated.

Tiamiyu urged all the Institute’s Training Centres and Annexes across the State to expedite action by ensuring absolute compliance, which is key to this life-saving and skills-driven programme designed to improve the safety awareness of professional drivers on Lagos road.
