LASG Seeks Ogun State’s Support On 57-kilometer Purple Line Rail Project

Lagos State Government, through LAMATA, seeks Ogun State’s support on 57-kilometer Purple Line Rail Project.
Proposed Purple Line Rail Project is expected to have 17 stations, five of which are expected to be located within Ogun State.
This collaborative engagement signifies a positive step towards the realization of the Purple Line rail project.
The Lagos state government, through the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), today met with the Ogun State government to provide information on the Purple Line rail project, especially in areas where the rail project has footholds in Ogun state.
At the meeting, the LAMATA delegation, led by its Technical Adviser for Public Transport Rail, Engr. Olasunkanmi Okusaga highlighted the strategic importance of the the rail line, noting that 5 out of planned 17 stations are located within Ogun State.
Engr. Okusaga appealed to the Ogun State government for support in ensuring the smooth progress of the proposed 57-kilometer rail line project.
He emphasized the significant benefits it would bring to the indigenes of both Lagos and Ogun states, fostering greater connectivity and economic opportunities.
Responding to the presentation, the Commissioner for Transportation in Ogun State, Engr. Gbenga Dairo, warmly welcomed the delegation from LAMATA to Ogun State.
He expressed his full support for the Purple Line project, assuring the LAMATA team of his unwavering commitment to complement and support Lagos State’s efforts in this vital infrastructure development.
To facilitate proper planning and potential budgetary considerations on the Ogun State side, Engr Dairo requested that LAMATA share detailed project timelines and comprehensive descriptions of the work involved in the Ogun segments of the rail line.
This collaborative engagement signifies a positive step towards the realization of the Purple Line rail project and its anticipated benefits for the interconnected communities of Lagos and Ogun states.
