The Lagos State Taskforce on Environment and Special Offences Unit has vowed to prosecute some car dealers who have converted road setbacks, walkways, lay-bys, gardens and other unapproved spaces into car lots.

This position was made known by the Chairman of the Agency, CSP Shola Jejeloye, in a statement by Gbadeyan Abduraheem, the Director, Press & Public Affairs Lagos State Taskforce.





According to Jejeloye, the actions of some motor dealers and transport operators are inconsiderate as they jeopardize the safety, serenity, beautification exercise and greener Lagos initiative of Lagos State Government for their selfish gains.

Officials of the Nigerian Army and operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on Tuesday agreed to strengthen partnership on traffic management in Lagos.

Speaking on the unfortunate incident pertaining to the face-off between a Lastma Officer and a Soldier, Mr. Oreagba maintained that :

“There is no love lost between the two sisters agencies and that Lastma personnel would continue to rely on continuous support from the Nigerian Army and other security agencies across the State.

“We won’t abuse the relationship nor take the cordiality and warm friendliness which has existed between the Army and Lastma for granted”

The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dauda Ali Biu, has ordered the immediate clampdown on all rickety vehicles across the country following the trending video of an old car with three worn out tyres plying the highway in Sagamu, Ogun State.

Biu, who gave the directives in a statement by the Corps Public Education Officer (CPEO), Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM), Mr Bisi Kazeem, on Thursday, also ordered the immediate clampdown of the vehicle and arrest of the owner.

The FRSC boss also appealed to the public to work with the agency, urging them to report when such vehicles are sighted on the road to ensure the safety of lives and property.

The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) has commissioned a 100% Solar-powered Electric Vehicle Charging Station at the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), in Enugu State.

The pilot project is the initiative of the NADDC under the EV development project as incorporated in the new 2023 National Automotive Industry Development Plan (NAIDP).

Speaking at the event on Thursday 17th August 2023, the Vice Chancellor of UNN, Prof. Charles Arizechukwu Igwe applauded the Management of NADDC for the land mark achievement.

He said :

“I am delighted that UNN is among the Universities chosen to be part of the NADDC EV Pilot programme. UNN will always support and be the first on EV development in Nigeria”.

The University Team led by the Vice Chancellor later test-drove the Hyundai Kona EV car deployed by the NADDC as part of the project.
