Last Year, Tesla’s Sales In The EU Decreased By 37.9%

Sales of American electric vehicle (EV) giant Tesla in the EU fell by 37.9 percent in 2025 on an annual basis, according to data published by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA).​​​​​​

Billionaire Elon Musk’s electric vehicle company, Tesla, sold 150,504 units in the EU last year, ACEA’s report showed, and a year earlier, that figure was 242,436 units, reports Anadolu Agency.

The company’s market share also fell to 1.4 percent in 2025, from 2.3 percent in 2024.

In December last year alone, Tesla sales fell by 31.9 percent in the EU compared to December 2024, to 21,485 units.

In Europe, including the EU, the European Free Trade Association, and Great Britain, Tesla sales also fell 20.2 percent in December and 26.9 percent last year.

Total sales of electric cars rose by 29.9 percent to 1.88 million units in the EU last year.

Meanwhile, China’s BYD, one of Tesla’s main competitors, saw its EU sales rise 227.8 percent year-on-year to 128,827 units.

BYD’s market share also rose to 1.2 percent in 2025, up from 0.4 percent the previous year.

Tesla’s sales have been declining rapidly in Europe, partly due to Musk’s controversial political views, his meddling in European politics, and rapid competition from Chinese brands.
