Next-Gen Audi RS7 To Drop Its Twin-Turbo V8

Another powerful V8 could soon be leaving the automotive scene. Audi is working on a new RS7, but when it arrives, it may have two fewer cylinders under the hood.
According to Car magazine, the V6 is set to take the place of the existing 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. Despite this change, it is expected to maintain or possibly enhance its power output. Insiders suggest that the new engine will feature a plug-in hybrid system generating 725 horsepower, a notable increase from the current 621 horsepower of the RS7. Additionally, the report indicates that a future RS7 Performance variant may achieve an impressive 800 hp.
As Motor1 reports, there are currently no official details about the plug-in hybrid powertrain. However, it is assumed that it will include electric motors and Audi’s 2.9-litre V6 twin-turbo gasoline engine. It will also offer some electric-only range.
