National Security : Nigeria Police Resumes Issuance Of Tinted Glass Permits Nationwide

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced the resumption of the issuance of Tinted Glass Permits (TGP) nationwide following a widespread public complaints about police harassment of motorists over the use of tinted windows.

The reactivation of the permit system, under the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, was announced in a statement released on Wednesday April 30th 2025 by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

“With modern automobiles increasingly manufactured with tinted windows, it has become essential to provide a standardized system that accommodates legitimate use while ensuring public safety.”

Explaining why tinted vehicles was initially banned across the country, NPF said their use hampers police visibility and impedes effective law enforcement, thereby contributing to public insecurity.

“Tinted vehicles have often been exploited for criminal purposes, including kidnapping, armed robbery, “one-chance” scams, and other forms of banditry.”

FCT Police Arrest Husband And Wife Who Uses ‘Toyota Master Keys’ Purchased From Jumia To Steal Vehicles

The operatives of the FCT Police Command also announced the recovery of three stolen vehicles and the arrest of eight (8) suspected car theft syndicate operating within the Federal Capital Territory.

Two of the arrested 8 suspects includes husband-and-wife duo, who specializes in using master keys to gain access to the targeted vehicles, according to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, on April 19th.

Adah explained that the wife confessed to purchasing Toyota master keys from the Jumia online marketplace, which is then used by her husband used to steal the target vehicles.

“She confessed to purchasing Toyota master keys from the Jumia online marketplace, which her husband used to steal vehicles, while she created distractions to facilitate the crimes.”

Singer Portable Buys Ford F-150, Days After Burna Boy Gifted Him N20m For His Victory Over Speed Darlington

Controversial Nigerian artiste, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, also acquired a Ford F-150 pickup truck last week, just few days after his victory over singer, Speed Darlington, in a celebrity boxing match.

While sharing the news of his latest acquisition on his Instagram page, Portable explained he purchased the pickup truck with financial support from Burna Boy, stating : “I bought it (F-150) from the money Burna Boy gave me and i joined more to it.”

Following his victory over Speed Darlington, grammy award-winning superstar, Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, gifted Portable the sum N20 million.
