Ram Is Recalling Several Truck For Being “Too Fast”
With the return of the 1500 TRX, a supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8 engine producing 777 horsepower (579 kW/788 PS) and 680 lb-ft (921 Nm) of torque, Ram is no stranger to fast trucks. The model will be able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 96 km/h) in 3.5 seconds, reaching a maximum speed of 118 mph (190 km/h).
Although certain truck types are too quick for their own good, those are nonetheless outstanding stats. Ram is recalling 12,736 pickups as a result of the tyres’ potential to exceed their speed rating.
A software flaw in the powertrain control module is the cause of the recall, which affects about 2500 vehicles from the 2023–2026 model years. It makes it possible for the trucks to travel faster than their tyre speed rating permits, which may weaken the tyres and result in “compromised vehicle control”.
The model is being recalled because this raises the possibility of a collision. Although Stellantis didn’t elaborate on the issue, they don’t know of any incidents or owner reports about it. Additionally, the company suggested that only cars with specific tyres are covered by the recall.
Owners must bring their truck to the dealership in order for specialists to install updated powertrain control module software in order to resolve the problem. Owner notifications are anticipated to be given out early next month, and this seems like a fairly simple repair.
