Toyota To Develops New Economical Petrol Engines

Toyota is developing a new generation of petrol engines that will be more powerful and economical than the engines in today’s models.
The biggest change will be the size of the engine, which will be significantly more compact than today. This will allow Toyota designers to reduce the engine bay to give the cars a slimmer silhouette and less drag. A new 2.0-liter turbocharged engine will be introduced this year and will first end up in a mid-engine sports car. More variants will follow later, including a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine with or without a turbocharger.
The new generation of engines can, of course, be combined with electric drive in Toyota’s hybrid models and will also be able to run on synthetic gasoline or hydrogen. The market for hybrid cars has grown rapidly, which is one of the reasons why Toyota is now developing new engines for its hybrid models. The number of newly registered hybrid cars rose by more than 20 percent in the EU last year compared to 2023, according to data from the industry association ACEA.
