LASG opens Removal of Abandoned Vehicles Office Complex at Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) Yard.
Special Adviser to Governor on Transportation reiterates the need for the Committee to operate within their operational guidelines.
Primary role of the Removal of Abandoned Vehicles Committee is to remove all abandoned, disused vehicles obstructing traffic.
The Special Adviser to Lagos Governor on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa, on Tuesday August 27th officially opened the Removal of Abandoned Vehicles Office Complex, located at the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) Yard, Oshodi.
Speaking at the event, the Special Adviser reiterated the need for the Team to operate within their operational guidelines, adding that any member of the team caught operating against their terms and conditions of engagement will be outrightly dismissed and will equally face the law.
In attendance at the short official ceremony are the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Mr. Olawale Musa and the General Manager, LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki.
It will be recalled that the Lagos State Government had in June reconstituted and inaugurated Removal of Abandoned Vehicles and Park Monitoring Committees as part of efforts to improve traffic flow and ensure orderliness at motor parks across the State.
At the inauguration, Sola Giwa stated that the primary responsibility of the Removal of Abandoned Vehicles Committee is to remove all abandoned and disused vehicles obstructing traffic and posing security threats to the metropolis.
The Special Adviser added that the Park Monitoring Committee responsibility is to ensure orderliness across parks, prevent use and sale of alcohol and other related substances in the park, and clamp down on illegal parks and illegal commuter operations amongst others.
According to Giwa, the Committee’s efforts will significantly reduce traffic congestion, enhance the free movement of motorists, clampdown on use of abandoned vehicles by criminals and promote ease of doing business in Lagos.
The Transportation Adviser also cautioned committee members to see their roles as a service to the state and to avoid any irresponsible actions that could tarnish the government’s reputation, warning that any misconduct would be met with severe consequences.
