‘P7’ remains the world’s most expensive plate number after fetching $15 million during charity auction in Dubai.

Last month, a ‘1F’ sold for $1.2m at the RM Sotheby’s London auction, making it UK’s most expensive registration plate of all time.

A highly-sought-after vehicle number plate bearing the characters “KLZ 1” fetched a record price of SAR 15.7 million ($4.1 million) at a Vehicle Plate Auction held during the 2025 Riyadh Car Show.

While the single-digit number “1” elevated its desirability the plate, the Arabic letters “م ل ك,” which phonetically translate to “King,” contributed to the number plate’s astronomical price.

But the price paid to own the unique “KLZ 1” still trails the whopping 21 million Riyals (around $5.6 million) for a “1E” number plate at a Saudi government auction in April 2024.

The ‘P7’ remains the world’s most expensive car license plate number after fetching AED 55 million ($15 million) during the ‘Most Noble Number’ charity auction in Dubai in April 2023.

The amount paid to own the ‘P7’ vanity plate smashes the then record price of 52.2 million dirhams ($14.2 million) that Saeed Abdul Ghaffar Khouri paid to buy ‘1’ registration plate in February 2008 at a charity auction in Dubai.

Back in November, a classic ‘1F’ number plate sold for $1.2 million at the RM Sotheby’s London 2025 auction, making it UK’s most expensive registration plate of all time.
