Volkswagen To Fit Cheap Batteries In Its EVs

Published

on

European car manufacturers began using all means in a serious competition with Chinese manufacturers. That’s how Volkswagen decided to introduce a cheaper LFP battery in the ID.4 and ID.5 models on the European market.

Skoda was the first to use this battery in the Elroq and Enyaq, and now Volkswagen is making the same move, writes Autoblog.com.

The new 58 kWh battery will give the ID.4 a range of 440 km, and the ID.5 will have a range of 450 km. Charging takes place with a maximum power of 105 kW, and from 10 to 80 percent takes 26 minutes.

There is no word yet on how much cheaper these Volkswagens will be, but expect the base price to drop by at least €3,000. Currently, the first ID.4 costs 41,232 euros.
