“We gave trained over 500,000 drivers since inception”, says DG of Lagos State Drivers’ Institute (LASDRI).
Last year, LASDRI trained and recertified 166 drivers of the Lagos State Health Service Commission (LSHSC).
LASDRI commenced operation in 2009 with the sole aim of ensuring improved road safety culture in Lagos State.

The Lagos State Drivers’ Institute (LASDRI) said that the State-owned drivers training institute has trained and re-certified over 500,000 professional drivers in the last 14 years of its existence.
The General Manager of LASDRI, Mrs. Afusat Tiamiyu, revealed this while speaking on “Know Your Agencies”, a Traffic Radio Programme organised in partnership with Parastatals Monitoring Office (PMO).
While speaking on Drivers’ orientation and training, Tiamiyu informed that the agency was established in 2007 through the Lagos State House of Assembly enabling law and commenced operation in 2009 with the sole aim of ensuring improved road safety culture in Lagos State.
LASDRI earlier revealed that first-line drivers who did not acquire required driving skills from accredited driving schools in Lagos State risk their lives and that of their passengers as well as the society at large.
Last year, LASDRI trained and recertified 166 drivers of the Lagos State Health Service Commission (LSHSC) at a two-day Advanced Professional Training Programme.
According to agency, the training was aimed at re-enlightening the trainees about the fundamental principles, qualities, dynamics and responsibilities involved in the art of being a professional ambulance driver.
