Chinese Smartphone Maker, Xiaomi, Unveils SU7 Electric Sedan, Aims to Be Among Top 5 Automakers - autojosh

Xiaomi aims to deliver 550,000 vehicles this year, representing a 34 percent increase from the more than 410,000 units delivered in 2025. This is an extremely impressive figure, considering the technology maker only started producing cars in 2024.

As Electrive.com reports, it wasn’t until April 2024 that Xiaomi, a tech group primarily known in Europe as a smartphone maker, began shipping electric cars. The first customers received the SU7 battery-electric sedan, which visually resembles the Porsche Taycan. By the end of 2024 alone, Xiaomi had achieved more than 135,000 deliveries of its debut model, an unexpected success.

Since then, Xiaomi’s expansion into the electric vehicle sector has progressed rapidly, and the company has significantly exceeded its 2025 targets. Initially, the target for the first full fiscal year was set at 300,000 units, but by March 2025, it had already been increased to 350,000 units. Ultimately, Xiaomi shipped over 410,000 electric vehicles in 2025, as recently announced by Lei Jun, founder and CEO.

This success is also reflected in the company’s finances: in the first nine months of 2025 alone, Xiaomi generated 68.9 billion yuan (approximately 8.4 billion euros) in revenue from its electric vehicle division. Data for the fourth quarter, and therefore for the whole of 2025, is not yet available.

For 2026, Lei Jun set an initial target of 550,000 units—a 34 percent increase in sales compared to 2025. If last year’s pattern repeats, this could prove to be a conservative forecast, and Xiaomi will likely exceed it again.
