239,114 Passengers Passed Through Abuja Airport From Jan 1st-Dec 15th, 2020 – NIS - autojosh

Despite travel restrictions, 239,114 passengers passed through Abuja Airport from Jan 1st-Dec 15th, 2020, according to Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS)

A total of 625 Nigerians were deported and 24 repatriated for various criminal and immigration-related offences during the period.

Despite travel restrictions, caused by Covid-19 pandemic, a total of 239,114 passengers passed through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja between January 1 and December 15, 2020.

This was disclosed in a statement released by the Nigeria Immigration Service on Monday titled : ‘Review of NIS operational activities at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja (NAIA), in 2020’.





According to NIS, 120, 247 passengers have so far departed NAIA, Abuja, for various destinations abroad. It added that 118, 867 passengers have also arrived into the country through NAIA airport during the same the period.

Parts of the statement reads :

“No fewer than 239,114 outbound and inbound migrants passed through NAIA, Abuja, between 1st January and 15th December 2020. So far, 73,582 Nigerians and 46,665 non-Nigerians departed NAIA, Abuja, for various destinations abroad.

“Similarly, 81,277 Nigerians and 37,590 non-Nigerians arrived through NAIA airport within the period under review.”

The statement further revealed the numbers of Nigerians that were deported as well those repatriated for various criminal and immigration-related offences during the period

“A total of 625 Nigerians were deported and 24 repatriated for various criminal and immigration-related offences abroad.”

In comparison, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, also known as the Abuja International Airport, handled 2,140,452 passengers in 2018.
