Since its illegal to sell decommissioned cars in the local market, the US Embassy in Kazakhstan has crushed several bulletproof cars worth millions of dollars.

In the past, we’ve seen several seized supercars get deliberately destroyed by the government of the Philippines.

An illegally imported Ferrari LaFerrari was crushed in South Africa a few years ago. A ₦804m Bugatti Veyron, allegedly imported into Zambia to evade taxes, could also suffer the same fate very soon.

And now, several armoured vehicles, worth millions of dollars have been crushed in Kazakhstan.

But in this particular case, these cars are not being crushed to punish the owners.

What you’re watching here are seven armored vehicles being ferried by flatbed trucks into the crushing chambers. They include Toyota Land Cruisers, a Toyota Hilux pickup truck, a Cadillac DTS, and a Chevrolet Suburban.

According to reports, these decommissioned cars, once used by US embassy in Kazakhstan, needed to be crushed due to strict American regulations.

These custom made vehicles have additional protection such as armored bodywork and bulletproof glass.

In addition to being too expensive to ship them overseas to sell them in the US, it’s also illegal to sell them in the local market.

So it’s more cost-effective to crush them for recycling purposes. The destruction was observed by US diplomats to ensure every vehicle is crushed beyond recognition.
