Toyota Reports Record Global Sales And US Growth

While one automaker after another is warning of significant setbacks due to US import tariffs, Toyota seems to be doing just fine. Toyota Motor Corporation, which also includes Lexus, saw sales in the US continue to grow steadily. Toyota and Lexus sold 1,236,739 vehicles in the first half of the year, 4.2 percent more than in the same period last year. According to Toyota, this is due to strong demand for its models in the US, with the Camry and Sienna models making particularly good contributions.

Globally, Toyota is also doing well. Toyota and Lexus combined sold more cars in H1 than ever before. A total of 5,159,282 cars were sold, 5.5 percent more than last year. Small growth was already reported in Europe, again good for a record. Daihatsu, whose sales are calculated separately, saw sales grow by a whopping 56.2 percent to 329,416 cars. This growth is largely due to last year’s huge dip, when Daihatsu was embroiled in controversy over the safety of its cars.
