Today’s Photos : Range-topping Mercedes-Benz S-Class-based 1000SEL limousine spotted on a hauler trailer.
“1000SEL” is not a factory-built Mercedes model but an extensively modified S-Class 500SEL/560SEL models.
A Mercedes-Benz 1000SEL limousine has been captured being transported on hauler trailer. This “1000SEL” is not a factory-built Mercedes model but an extensively modified W126 S-Class (500SEL/560SEL) models produced from 1979 to 1991.
Mostly commissioned by VIPs, royals and oil magnates in the Middle East in the 1980s/90s, many of these customized 1000 SEL limousines were built by coachbuilders, including Jankel Design, Styling-Garage and Trasco.
To different these opulent limousines, some coachbuilders badged their stretched Mercedes-Benz 500SEL/560SEL with 1001SEL, 1000SGS, 5000GFG, 5000SEL and 10000SEL.
