Aston Martin Secures A Loan Worth 550 Million Pounds
Aston Martin has secured new financing worth 550 million British pounds (about 735 million US dollars or 635 million euros), led by funds managed by BlackRock-owned HPS Investment Partners.
As Reuters reports, the goal is to increase the liquidity of the company, which has been facing losses and weaker business results in recent years.
We recently wrote about this search for funding, and its end has now been confirmed.
The financing package consists of a secured loan of 450 million pounds and an additional loan of 100 million pounds that will be available as needed. The company has also secured an additional borrowing facility of up to £100m.
Aston Martin states that the new financing will strengthen the balance sheet and enable greater financial flexibility for the implementation of existing and future development plans. CFO Doug Lafferty said the funding will increase the company’s resilience and support the development of future models.
The manufacturer, also known for its long association with the James Bond film series, has been facing declining sales in recent years, with results affected by US tariffs and weaker demand in the Chinese market. Aston Martin shares have lost around 44 percent of their value since the beginning of the year.
To improve its financial condition, the company launched a cost-cutting program that includes laying off approximately one-fifth of its employees and delaying part of its investment in the development of electric vehicles. An agreement was also reached to sell the permanent rights to the Aston Martin Formula 1 team brand.
The company expects that the mentioned measures, together with the sale of special versions of its models, will contribute to the improvement of profit margins and cash flow in the coming period.
Aston Martin plans to announce financial results for the first half of 2026 on July 29.
