How Intelligence And Car Selection Are Related: Research Reveals Which Drivers Have The Highest IQs
According to research, your car can be a clear indicator of your intelligence. Volvo drivers scored 115 points on the IQ scale, which indicates that they have above-average intelligence.
According to the Daily Star, researchers from the Freebets platform asked 2,000 British drivers to take an IQ test and asked them what car they drive. The results of that research showed that Volvo drivers are the smartest on the road.
“There’s always been a perception that Volvo drivers are sensible, and here’s the proof,” Freebets spokesman Tim Agnew said.
Volvo drivers scored 115 points on the IQ scale, which indicates that they have above-average intelligence. However, BMW and Mini drivers had the lowest IQs, potentially making them the worst drivers. They scored only 87 points on the IQ scale, which is considered a below-average score.
Skoda, Tesla, Toyota, and Honda drivers also made the top five, suggesting they have higher IQs than other drivers. Land Rover, Vauxhall and Fiat drivers were among the five worst ranked.
Audi owners are among the drivers with the lowest IQ
“If you’re a Skoda, Tesla, Toyota or Honda driver, you can give yourself a pat on the back,” Agnew said.
IQ test scores of 130 and above are considered “very superior” intelligence, while scores of 120 to 129 are considered “superior”, 110 to 119 “high average”, 90 to 109 “average”, 80 to 89 “low average”, and 70 to 79 “borderline”, while 69 and below indicate “intellectual disability”.
Skoda drivers took second place with 113 points; Tesla and Toyota drivers shared third with 112 points, while Honda drivers had 111 points. Volkswagen drivers were fifth with 109, Nissan sixth with 107, Hyundai and Kia seventh with 106, Ford eighth with 102, Jaguar ninth with 101 and Mercedes-Benz tenth with 99.
Among the drivers with the lowest IQ are the owners of Audi, in 11th place with 98 points; Peugeot and Renault, who share 12th place with 96; Land Rover, in 13th place with 91; Vauxhall, in 14th place with 90; and Fiat, in 15th place with 89. BMW and Mini drivers are at the bottom of the list, in 16th place, with just 87 points.
