A Class-Action Lawsuit Alleges That Land Rover Concealed Minor Hybrid Problems For Years.
JLR faces a class-action lawsuit over faulty mild-hybrid powertrains in Land Rover and Jaguar models. The defect, linked to DC-DC converter failures, can cause vehicles to lose power and shut down unexpectedly, potentially affecting thousands of owners.
The auto company faces a class-action lawsuit for allegedly ignoring faulty DC-DC converters in mild-hybrid models. Despite a recall of over 170,000 vehicles, the company has reportedly failed to provide repairs or replacements. The defect causes 48V system failures that force vehicles to shut down unexpectedly, leaving owners stranded with only ten seconds of warning.
If the driver ignores dashboard warnings, the vehicle shifts to neutral, disables auxiliary systems like lights and climate control, and eventually shuts down. The lawsuit cites this dangerous sequence and the company’s lack of an official fix as the primary reasons for the class-action filing.
The defect affects most Land Rover and Jaguar mild-hybrid models, including Range Rover, Defender, Discovery, and F-Pace variants. With failures reported in North America and Europe across both gasoline and diesel engines—compounded by recent airbag recalls—JLR must act immediately to address these systemic issues and restore consumer trust.
