Range Rover Produced By Practicing Social Distancing Leaves Factory

Land Rover has successfully produced a Range Rover SUV using the strict social distancing protocols the factory implemented before resumption. They have proven that with proper guidelines and safety measures the factory can operate fully. The left-hand-drive example left the Solihull factory (UK), in the Midlands, yesterday (May 20). It became the first car to be built since the coronavirus pandemic enforced a plant shutdown.
In order to restart production, the factory followed strict social distancing, hygiene and health monitoring measures across its sites. Everything had to be double-checked from production lines to communal spaces. All these new protocols allowed it to start a “phased return” to production. Although Land Rover admitted that there have been changes to employees working days as staff “health and wellbeing” are its key considerations.
To further improve social distancing, the firm has introduced checks with thermal cameras and physical separation of staff to maintain a two-meter gap wherever possible. Where such a gap is not possible, personal protective equipment (PPE) has been provided.
Jaguar Land Rover’s executive director for manufacturing in a statement said. “Seeing the first Range Rover come off our line today is a defining moment for Jaguar Land Rover, for all of us who work for the company and the many businesses in our supply chain,”. He also added “It marks the end of our temporary shutdown and signals the beginning of a return to normality. But, of course, this is a new normal.
