Soldiers hired by driver threatened to shoot RRS officers after Mercedes ML 350 affixed with covered number plate was impounded.
The Mercedes ML 350 SUV was the sixth vehicle with covered number plates that was intercepted and impounded on Saturday.
The driver of a Mercedes-Benz ML 350 was arrested in V.I on Saturday after a military personnel he allegedly hired to prevent his vehicle from being impounded attempted to shoot operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS.
According to reports, the RRS officers professionally de-escalated the crisis and successfully towed vehicle to RRS Headquarters.

Soldiers hired by driver threatened to shoot RRS after a Mercedes with covered number plate was impounded
Head of Public Affairs Unit, Rapid Response Squad, Femi Moliki, in a statement titled, ‘Sanwo-Olu orders police to impound vehicles with covered number plate’, said the vehicle was impounded cos the practice was illegal and unconstitutional.
The statement added that the Mercedes-Benz ML 350 SUV was the sixth vehicle that was intercepted and impounded during the operation on Saturday.
Parts of the statement reads :
“Five of the vehicles have been transferred to the Lagos State Taskforce on Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences. The sixth, a Mercedes Benz, ML 350 was intercepted and impounded in Victoria Island by the officers of the squad around 9:30 p.m. yesterday (Saturday).

“The driver of the vehicle, one Adam Oluremi, 32, threatened and mobilised a military man to shoot the officers. The officers professionally de-escalated the crisis and successfully towed vehicle to RRS Headquarters.”
Reacting to the incident, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Hakeem Odumosu, directed that the driver be prosecuted. The police boss maintained that “nobody is above the law of the land”.
