GM CEO Mary Barra Drives Recalled Bolt, Owns A Corvette, All-electric GMC Hummer And Cadillac Lyriq On The Way
GM CEO currently drives recalled Bolt EV, owns a Corvette, all-electric GMC Hummer and Cadillac Lyriq to join her fleet soon.

General Motors (GM) Chairman and CEO Mary Barra has revealed in an interview with The New York Times’ Andrew Ross Sorkin that she’s currently driving a recalled Chevrolet Bolt EV.
At the end of New York Times DealBook Online Summit, were she talked about the future of electric cars and GM’s role in it, Barra said she drives a Bolt after Sorkin asked her which car she drives.

“I’m driving a Bolt EV. I’m loving it. When people get to drive an electric vehicle, I think they’ll find that they’re not giving anything up, in fact they’re getting it, the customer experience is great.”
Barra went on to say that her family owns a Camaro, Firebird and a Corvette, adding that they’ll own a GMC Hummer EV very soon. She also said they’re on the list of “hand-raisers” for the upcoming, all-electric Cadillac Lyriq.

A GM spokesperson verified that Barra’s Bolt EV is one of the recalled cars, but couldn’t confirm whether or not her car has been repaired yet.

No doubt, it’s important for top executives to drive electric cars to prove that they’re truly in support of electrification. When asked what number she is on the upcoming EV reservation lists, Barra said:
“Well I try to be fair. I think it’s important for me to demonstrate our product, but I signed up like everyone else for the Hummer. When we started the Hummer, we overloaded the internet, so I was texting the head of GMC Buick and I managed to get on the list.”

Last month, GM and its battery maker LG Electronics started fixing some of the recalled Bolt EVs and EUVs by installing five new battery modules to enhance the battery pack in them.
The American automaker had recalled some 140,000 Bolt EVs and EUVs due to a battery issue that could potentially cause a spontaneous fire.
