Students Of FGC On Excursion To NADDC Solar Charging Station Rides In Hyundai Kona EV
Students of the Federal Government College (FGC) goes on excursion to NADDC Solar Charging Station.
During the excursion, the students took a ride in Hyundai Kona Electric Vehicle.
Students of the Federal Government College (FGC), Sokoto went on an excursion to the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) Solar Powered EV Charging Station, sited at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.
The visit by the college, which is DG NADDC, Jelani Aliyu’s alma mater, is part of a program by the agency to boost technology transfer amongst primary and secondary school students.
The Students, led on the excursion by their Vice Principal, Student Affairs, were conducted around the facility by the Zonal Coordinator, NADDC North West Zone, Nura Sidi, beginning with the Solar Panels System and ending with a demonstration of the Electric Vehicle, Hyndai Kona EV.

During the excursion, the NADDC engineer heading the Technical Team at the station lectured the students on the solar charging system, the capacities of the batteries, inverters and the general DC to AC conversion system.
Nigerian first locally-made electric car, the Hyundai Kona EV, was also shown to the students during the visit. It was further stressed that eco-friendly EVs will contribute tremendously in reducing carbon emissions and the degradation of the ozone layer. The students also had their first electric car ride amid smiles and giggles.
The Council has a similar setup at the NADDC Solar EV Charging Station at the University of Lagos. It is also working on a third one at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where construction is underway.
The target of the excursion is to enlighten and engage young Nigerians on advanced technologies that are relavant to building a Nigeria of peace, progress and prosperity for all.
